Blue Morning At SoHo, plein air
Oil on Belgian linen panel 14 x 18 x 1/8 Available
The morning sky was clear and blue above South Holston Lake, during the 2026 Abingdon Plein Air Festival, with low clouds gently wrapping around the mountains like a shawl slipping from their shoulders. The blue seemed to carry through the entire landscape, from the distant violet-blue mountains to the quiet waters below.
I hadn't set out to paint a predominantly blue landscape. I simply painted what I observed that morning, and it was only afterward that I recognized how much that peaceful blue atmosphere had become part of the painting.
